93 Taurus won't start

Post 93 Taurus won't start

Looking for some suggestions for the following problem:
Our 93 Taurus (3.8 V6) quit on us. It started acting up when it was low on gas last week. Wife got it to the gas station filled it up. It quit on the on-ramp a few miles later. I have put on a new dist cap and rotor, O2 sensor. Reconnected the EGR tube that I found was disconnected. I have a spark to the plugs. Fuel present (pressure unknown) at the valve on the fuel rail. I advanced the timing (turned the dist clockwise) and the car started, ran rough. Returned to original timing, was able to idle but sputtered on acceleration. Still won't start. Whenever I do try to start it I smell a rich mixture from the tail pipe.
I pulled the historical codes:
111- pass
176 - O2 sensor lean, left side
211 - Profile Ignition Pickup circuit fault
326 and 628
UPDATE: I tested the fuel pressure and I have 30 lbs. So IMO it's not the fuel pump.
I cleaned the Mass Air Sensor, it was black. Still won't start (unless I advance the timing).

Thanks in advance,

Joe
