Garage Cabinets, Garage Storage, and Garage Organization

I've got an 83 bronco 5.8l/351.  It has a variable venturi carburetor that is giving me fits.  Any ideas on a replacement carb?  The idle in park or neutral is way to high and the car has trouble starting if it is hot.  If I manually open the choke 1/3 of the way it will usually start if hot.

I've run about a gallon of it through the fuel to no avail.  Is there another type that might work better?
